With the increasing popularity of electronic medical records (EMRs), the traditional handwritten note is becoming more and more scarce in offices. While many physicians have their own opinions on this tech-centered switch, a new debate has come about: narrative medical histories or checkboxes?
Both narrative style notes and checkboxes have their own lists of pros and cons. Checkboxes may lack context but they take less time to complete. Narrative histories paint a clearer picture but take more time to review and write.
